As the first academic health center in Texas and among the oldest in the
nation, UTMB has helped define health care for generations. In fact, our
schools of medicine, nursing, health professions and biomedical sciences
have conferred more than 26,000 degrees throughout their history. The
first school of its kind in the Southwest U.S. when it opened its doors
in 1968, the School of Health Professions has helped carry on this
tradition, granting degrees and certificates to more than 6,500
graduates in such vital areas as health information administration,
clinical laboratory sciences, health care administration, occupational
therapy, physical therapy, respiratory care and physician assistant
studies.

Applicants are strongly
encouraged to request to have their transcripts sent ELECTRONICALLY to UTMB
whenever possible. This greatly expedites processing and improves the accuracy
of transcript evaluation. The accepted standard for this process in Texas goes
by the name: SPEEDE.
