**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**
The AARC, CoARC and the NBRC have adopted a position
statement recognizing the RRT credentials as the standard of excellence in the
respiratory Care profession. New
graduates of accredited advanced level education programs have three years from
their date of graduation to complete the RRT Examination, effective January 1,

Program Information
The Department offers a Bachelor of Science Degree
with two tracts: (1) a Foundation Program for applicants
entering the field, and (2) a Career Ladder
Program for Registered Respiratory Therapists.
Foundation Program
The Foundation Program, designed for those entering
the field, requires the 61 semester hours of
prerequisites for admission and 89 semester hours
(two years) of professional courses after entry into
the program.
Career Ladder Program
The Career Ladder Program, designed for graduates
of other types of Respiratory Care Programs
who have passed the NBRC Registry examinations,
provides for 54 semester hours of block credit. In
addition to the 61 semester hours of prerequisites
required for admission, students must complete 35
semester hours of professional courses after entering
the program.
Alternate Track Program
The Alternate Track Program is designed for students with special needs. This program extends the two-year proffessional curriculum over a three-year period. Students must meet with an advisor to plan their course sequence.
