Your Path to Success - New Student Checklist

To get you started on your path to success at the UTMB School of Health Professions, complete the next steps below.

New Students

  • Offer/Acceptance Letter

    You should have or will receive a formal letter of acceptance, by mail/email from the department. Please carefully read through this letter and complete all department specific requirements.

    Portal – Activate your mySTAR Portal

    • Your acceptance email will be sent to the email you used to create your mySTAR Account when you applied
    • The acceptance email contains a link to set up the portal
    • Click on the link to activate your mySTAR  student portal after your acceptance email is received
    • Sometimes the acceptance email goes to an "Important," "Other," or "Junk" folder

  • Student Email - Official Communications

    Add enrollment.services@utmb.edu to your contacts list to ensure you receive all official correspondence from Enrollment Services.  If after you applied, you did not receive three emails messages from Enrollment Services (application acknowledgement letter, a notice containing the User ID/Student ID, and temporary password), please check your spam folder.

    Please note once you have accepted admission, all official email communication will be through your UTMB student email account; therefore moving forward you will be responsible for checking your UTMB email regularly (at least weekly).

    If you experience problems with your email account, contact the UTMB Service Desk. The UTMB Service Desk can be contacted at 409-772-5200 or toll-free at 1-888-898-2401.

  • New Student Checklist & Welcome Guide

    To ensure that your matriculation is complete, please download and use the Student Checklist and Welcome Guide to complete all university required items before you arrive for New Student Orientation and classes.

  • Computer Requirements

    Computer Requirements: Ensure you have adequate technology to support your academic journey.

    Supported Operating Systems

    • Supported: Windows Operating Systems - Windows 10 & 11
    • Not Supported: Windows 8 or older

    Not Compatible

    • Google Chromebooks are not compatible with the required exam software.
    • Android phones and tablets are not compatible with the required exam software.

    Apple Operating Systems

    • Apple users should always run the latest version of MacOS (iMac, Macbook) or iOS (iPhone, iPad) unless specified otherwise.
    • MacOS version 11 (Big Sur) or newer is required.
    • iOS/iPadOS version 14 or newer is required on iPhone and iPad devices.
