Students Serving Students: Past, Present, and Future

What we mean by our motto above is we will be an organization committed to providing service to UTMB School of Health Professions alumni (Past), current students (Present), and incoming students (Future). We would like to establish an organization of enthusiastic student representatives who can give tours around campus, provide service to the surrounding community of Galveston County, Alumni Affairs and Prospective Student Recruiting efforts. In the following pages, you can explore some of the ways in which we serve all the students who comprise the UTMB School of Health Professions community.

Serving the Future

Student Ambassadors will play a large role in interacting with potential SHP students and influencing their opinion of our school. In dealing with Future Students, we will offer all of the following:

  • Prospective Student Tours
  • Special Guest Tours
  • Open Houses
  • College Fairs & Panels
  • Commencement

Prospective Student Tours

Student Ambassadors will also be asked to volunteer their time to serve as tour guides for tours through the Office of Academic and Student Affairs because of their love for SHP! As students of the university, we can offer insights into Campus Life and Academia from a relevant perspective. Your energy and excitement for UTMB SHP will be hard to miss!

Serving the Past

Student Ambassadors will work with the Office of Alumni Affairs on a number of events and opportunities throughout the academic year. Student Ambassadors assist the Office of Alumni Affairs, which provides quality programs to support educational, cultural, service, and social opportunities to meet the needs of the university and its diverse alumni. Ambassadors volunteer at alumni events to encourage continued university involvement and support, and to share our love of SHP with alumni and remind them why THEY love SHP so much. Various programs we will organize and will be involved in include:

  • Homecoming
  • Alumni Reunions
  • Alumni Events
  • Alumni Leadership Board Meetings

Serving the Present

Student Ambassadors will provide various opportunities for current students at SHP to become involved in spreading the SHP spirit to others.
