Practice of Patholgy

Practice of Pathology 1 is designed to introduce the student to laboratory safety, medical terminology,
legislation, laboratory information systems, biomedical photography, health information management,
and documentation. The student will be given the opportunity to: 1) familiarize themselves with medical
terminology used in pathology, regulations which govern pathology, documentation, obtaining medical
records, and using laboratory information systems and laboratory safety, 2) practice appropriate use of
personal protective equipment, 3) perform dictations and document pathology reports, 4) perform the
preparation of tissue samples, and 4) perform the gross and microscopic photography of specimens.
Pre-requisite: Admission into Pathologists Assistant graduate program.
