Interprofessional Modules Clinical Laboratory Sciences
Healthcare professionals must be able to provide interprofessional care to ensure quality and access to the services needed for good patient outcomes. To do this, they need to have basic understanding of other disciplines' expertise, services they provide, their belief systems, and their patient care focus in order to interact in an appropriate and understanding manner. Health professionals need to be able to communicate with others effectively, build positive relationships, and deal with diversity as well.
The modules are self-paced and contain real-life scenarios which laboratorians, physicians, nurses, and health professions encounter on a daily basis.
Interdisciplinary Diabetic Care - This module educates health profession students to work together in the management of diabetic patients in community and home setting.
Building and Maintaining Healthy Relationships Across Professions - These modules are for all health professional students and are targeted towards the building of relationships and interactions with the laboratory professionals.
This project is sponsored in part by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), U.S. Department of Education.
