Work Room - 3rd Floor

GENERAL

  • Please submit all suggestions and concerns to Hyacinth Woods.
  • SHP Employees and Work-Study students/employees are permitted to use the equipment in the Reprographics Room.
  • Please be sure you know how to use machines before you attempt to operate them. If in doubt request assistance from Hyacinth Woods (71608).
  • It is the responsibility of the departmental administrative support to train personnel in their department on the proper use of equipment in the Reprographics Room.

COPY MACHINES

  • All originals must be the same size and in good condition.
  • If your documents are folded, curled, or damaged or originals on thin paper - Make new copies on the glass before you feed them into the document handlers.
  1. Please do not remove staples or leave staple remover over copy machine. Old staples cause major mechanical problems if they get into the rollers.
  2. Please do not put paper clips on top of the copy machine. They also cause major mechanical problems if they get in the machines.
  3. Copying small books - Important! Please put paper around the books edges so border does not come out black. The excess black causes problems with the copy machine rollers.
  4. Please do not make copies with lots of black on them; do not make copies with the top up. The excess black causes problems with the copy machine rollers.
  5. When doing large amounts of copying ... Please check your first few sets to be sure the copies are okay, especially two sided copies. Just because page 1 looks okay does not mean that the rest will.
  6. Please be sure you know how to use machines before you attempt to operate them. If in doubt request assistance.
  7. If paper jams occur - please call Hyacinth to reset the machine. Do not leave copy machine with a paper jam.
  8. Please do not leave machine or room when your copies are running. Others may need to use the machine.
  9. When copying large amounts, please allow others with 1 or 2 copies to interrupt your job to make their copies before continuing your job.

COLLATORS

  1. Please be sure you know how to use machines before you attempt to operate them. If in doubt request assistance.

FAX MACHINES

  1. Please be sure you know how to use machines before you attempt to operate them. If in doubt request assistance.

PAPER CUTTER

  1. Please put handle down on the paper cutter when you have finished using it.
  2. Please collect and discard scrap paper from the area surrounding the paper cutter.
  3. Only paper should be cut. Other materials will damage the blade, and could cause injury.

SHREDDER

  1. Do not shred more than 8 pages at a time; more than this will cause jamming of the machine.
  2. Remove all staples and paper clips from documents to be shredded.
  3. Only paper, not folders, etc., should be shredded.
  4. Allow the shredder to cool after 30 minutes of continuous use.
