Parking and Transportation
Parking WILL NOT be available at the Galveston County Daily News parking lot, nor along Teichman Road.
Parking is limited. Carpooling is highly suggested.
Community Parking Lots & Shuttles
Parking will be available at the following 2 lots:
- Home Depot and Target Parking & Shuttle Lot
Exit 1A - 6128 Broadway (1.60 miles if walking)
- Charlie Thomas/Galveston College Family Applied Technology Center Parking & Shuttle Lot
Exit 1B - 7626 Broadway (0.61 miles if walking)
Continuous shuttle service will pick up participants from the three parking lots and shuttle them to the drop off area at the Galveston County Daily News building parking lot. The shuttle will run from 6:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and return shuttles will run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please allow plenty of time to park, shuttle and arrive at the staging area for the FunD Run/Walk. The Galveston Police Department will close the southbound Teichman Road exit (Exit 1C) lane at 7:15 a.m. Directional signage will be in place to guide participants to lots and to shuttle pick-up locales. Student Volunteers will be assigned at each lot for parking assistance.
The SHP Causeway FunD 5K Run/Walk will be held RAIN or SHINE.
As a reminder, this is a fundraising event supporting SHP Student Scholarships and all registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Our participants’ safety is the most important thing and if any of the threatening weather conditions listed below are present the day of the event, the event may be delayed.
Threatening Weather Conditions
The SHP Causeway FunD Run 5K Run/Walk will be postponed or delayed if any of the following weather conditions exist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm/Electrical/Lightening Storm, “Heavy” Rain, other major weather condition.
Start of the Race / Delay Day of the Event
The start of the event will be delayed if any of the above-mentioned conditions exist. The event will then be delayed if any of the weather conditions persist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch or Thunderstorm/Electrical Storm.
Authority to Postpone the Event
The Event Organizer and Race Director, in accordance with the city and the local law enforcement, has the authority to delay or cancel the event. If threatening weather conditions force a delay or cancellation of the event, no refunds can be provided, since funds were already spent in preparation for race day. The event this is a fundraising event supporting SHP Student Scholarships and all registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Water Stations, Strollers, Bikes, Skateboards and Pets
Safety considerations prohibit the placement of water stations on the Causeway. Participants are encouraged to carry water with them. Water stations will be provided at the Galveston Daily News (before the Causeway), however there will be no water stations on the bridge.
- Service Animals
Note: Individuals with disabilities can bring their service animals. We do ask however, that you remain aware of your safety and the safety of your service animal since only one lane of the causeway heading north on the southbound outside lanes of the bridge will be closed. It will not be closed to all in-bound traffic.
Race Results & Photos
The FunD Run result times are provided by FTR Race Management and can be accessed instantly on designated computer kiosks at the race. You will also receive an email immediately after the event with a link to your race results. Within 1-2 days, your finish line video clip will be available on your results page.Race Results

Tips for better race photos:
- Wear your bib on the front of your shirt.
- Pin all 4 corners of your bib.
- Pull your cap/hat away from your face.
- If running with a friend/family, run shoulder to shoulder while your photos are shot.
