About Me

Ahmar Hashmi, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and Health Behavior in the School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Hashmi received his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch and his MPH from Boston University School of Public Health.

Dr. Hashmi has 15+ years of global health experience, which includes having lived and worked in low- and middle-income settings for 10 years. As a mixed methods researcher, Dr. Hashmi has interests in: nutrition (maternal, infant, and diet-related non-communicable disease); maternal, newborn, and child health; health equity and access; implementation; behavioral sciences; and vulnerable populations (migrants, refugees, criminal legal system-involved).
