About Me

Karthik Mani, OTD, MSc, OTR, FACOT is an Assistant Professor and Program Director (Ad-interim) in the Department of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health Professions. He received his entry-level degree in occupational therapy (OT) in India from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University and his post-professional doctoral degree in OT from Chatham University, Pittsburgh.

He gained several years of clinical and administrative experience, across multiple practice areas, both in India and the US prior to joining as an Assistant Director of External & Regulatory Affairs at the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) in 2013.

Dr. Mani has presented in various state and national conferences and published three books, two book chapters, and nearly 30 peer reviewed scholarly articles on occupational therapy.

Dr. Mani owns VOTC, a sole proprietorship OT consultation practice in Friendswood, TX. He is the founder and president of the Indian Occupational Therapists Think Tank, a registered non-profit society in India. He also serves as the NBCOT Ambassador for Texas since 2021.

Dr. Mani is also a Tamil language enthusiast and currently the principal of the Pearland branch of Greater Houston Tamil Schools, a non-profit that imparts Tamil education to children and youth in the Houston region.
