About Me

Raquel Martinez, PhD, PP-OTD, OTR is an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Martinez received her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University, her Post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Boston University and her PhD in Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Her major areas of interest are pediatrics and sensory integration and processing, specifically, the development and evaluation of programs that increase access to pediatric/sensory integration intervention.

Dr. Martinez has advanced training in sensory integration and processing and over a decade of clinical experience in pediatric practice in developing countries. She has a strong interest in increasing access to pediatric occupational therapy services for underserved populations. She has presented her research at multiple international conferences and through peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Martinez is a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association (TTOTA), The Association of Caribbean Occupational Therapists (ACOT), and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), and has served these organizations in various capacities over the years.
