About Me

Claudia Sealey-Potts, PhD, RD, LDN, FAND, a futurist leader, Professor and Director of Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition (DCN) in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and Health Behavior in the School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She has a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and a PhD in Nutrition and Food Science from Auburn University.

Her commitment is in the attenuation of nutrition-related chronic disease disparities using community-based participatory (CBP) approaches in research, service, community stakeholders training, and teaching. She has received three recent awards for her extensive community engagement efforts: Community Engaged Scholarship Award (2021), Community Engaged Research (CER) Scholarship Award (2022), and Nancy Sawyer Health Access Award, 2023.

Professionally, she is highly active in dietetics within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as: Delegate in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ House of Delegate, Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) Program Reviewer, Awards Chair in Nutrition Education for the Public-DPG, member on Committee for life-long learning (CLL), Nominating Chair for First Coast Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and others.
