Student Accomplishments

Congratulations to all of our recipients of the SHP Dean's Academic and Competitive Scholarship Award. Nita Amin and Makaela Mirano, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Nicole Bardaji and Allyson Cook-Lindsay, Physical Therapy, Jennifer Cleveland, Nutrition & Metabolism, Reagan Davis and Nikita Engineer, Physician Assistant Studies, Christina Carrion and Rachel Perry, Occupational Therapy, and Justin Horsley and Soraya Toghani, Respiratory Care. All of the recipients are pictured above with former dean Dr. Elizabeth Protas and interim dean, Dr. Vicki Freeman.


Michael Chamberlain

Congratulations DPT student Michael Chamberlain for being chosen as the recipient of the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP) Elwood Scholar Award. The award included a $2,000 scholarship, a plaque, and complimentary registration to the 2017 ASAHP Conference in San Antonio. The award was presented to Chamberlain at the awards ceremony on October 18, 2017.


Colleen McKenna

Congratulations to Nutrition & Metabolism student Colleen McKenna for winning the Basic Science category in the 2017 Annual Forum on Aging poster session. She was awarded a Sigma Xi membership.

McKenna's poster was titled, "Satellite Cell Depletion Impacts Skeletal Muscle Recovery Following a Burn Injury." The event was hosted on October 19, 2017 by the Sealy Center on Aging and the Department of Research Services.
