Mission & Vision

The Department of Nutrition and Metabolism provides quality training for a diverse group of students in academia, healthcare and education by integrating clinical and professional experiences within an innovative, evidence-based curriculum.

The department's research and educational activities are built upon the core values of the School of Health Professions: education, innovation, service, community, and diversity.

Master of Science and Dietetic Internship

Our department offers a full-time combined Master of Science and Dietetic Internship (MS/DI). Students enrolled in the MS/DI develop core professional competencies for evidence-based dietetics practice in clinical, community and food service settings. Graduates receive a verification statement and are eligible to take the registration examination for dietitians and become licensed in the state of Texas.

The mission of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Combined Masters of Science / Dietetic Internship is to prepare a diverse population of interns for practice in public service and lifelong learning through innovative curricula and supervised practice.

UT Adult Clinical Center for the NIH Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC)

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) have created the University of Texas Adult Clinical Center (UTACC) for the Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC).
