Biography

Christopher Messenger, PhD, MS, RD, LD, CNSC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and Health Behavior at the School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Dr. Messenger received Bachelor of Science degrees in Dietetics and in Nutritional Science (double degree) from Iowa State University in 2004 where he also completed his dietetic internship. He received a Master of Science degree in Preventive Medicine & Community Health, Sociomedical Sciences in 2009 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Population Health in 2019, both from UTMB.

Before joining the department, Dr. Messenger practiced acute care clinical dietetics for 12 years, three as a clinical nutrition manager. He has been board-certified as a nutrition support clinician since 2006.
