Maria C. Swartz, PhD, MPH, RD, LD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition & Metabolism in the School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Dr. Swartz's received a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of California, a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion and Health Education from the University of Texas School of Public Health, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
Dr. Swartz's primary research interest is to improve cancer prevention and control by developing scalable assessment methods to inform system-level intervention design to promote health behaviors and facilitate delivery of preventive care to attenuate functional decline among at-risk individuals.
