Biography
Dr. Sharon Dunnivan-Mitchell is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences (PTRS) in the School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin followed by a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. After 27 years as a practicing clinician, specializing in neurologic and medically complex patients, she completed a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica. A Doctor of Health Sciences degree in Leadership in Clinical Practice and Education was recently accomplished at The George Washington University.
Dr. Dunnivan-Mitchell holds a Board Certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy. Her passion for teaching within the modality of simulation led her to credentialing as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. She strives to make an impact on the population health of South Texans, by training the next generation of physical therapy clinicians.
