Biography
Sheena Sager, PT, DPT is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences (PTRS) in the School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Fitness and Human Performance from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) in 2007, her Associate of Applied Science degree in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program from San Jacinto College in 2009, and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the PTA to DPT Bridge Program from UTMB in 2018.
Dr. Sager holds certifications in LSVT BIG for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease and Neuro-IFRAH for the management of adults with hemiplegia from a stroke or brain injury. Early in her career, she worked in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, specializing in the care of patients with neurological and medically complex conditions. She completed the Vestibular Competency Course presented by Duke University School of Medicine & the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in Atlanta, Georgia in 2022. She has since developed a vestibular and balance rehabilitation program at an outpatient clinic at Houston Physicians' Hospital.
Dr. Sager is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA). Her expertise and clinical experience are focused on advancing care for patients with neurological, vestibular, and balance disorders, bridging academic instruction with practical clinical applications.
