Teaching Areas of Interest

Pediatric Physical Therapy, Pediatric Cardiology

Research Interests

Sub-maximal endurance testing in the pediatric cardiology patient, predictive qualities of sub-maximal endurance testing in heart transplantation outcomes, correlation of sub-maximal endurance testing with ICU acquired weakness in the pediatric patient.

Biography

James Walrath, DPT, PT, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences (PTRS) in the School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Dr. Walrath received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Austin and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of New England.

Dr. Walrath received his certification as a Pediatric Physical Therapy Specialist in 2018 and practices in the cardiac ICU at Texas Children's Hospital.
