Student Affairs

The School of Health Professions Office of Student Affairs at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston is dedicated to supporting and guiding health profession students throughout their educational journey. Our mission is to foster personal, academic, and professional growth by providing access to a range of resources, supportive programs, and services throughout their entire academic journey. From pre-admission to graduation and beyond, we aim to create a nurturing environment that empowers students to achieve their goals and become future healthcare leaders.

Student Affairs: Recruitment, Admissions, and Retention

The Student Affairs Office is dedicated to supporting the journey of students from prospective applicants to successful graduates in the Health Professions School. Our mission encompasses three core areas: recruitment, admissions, and retention.

Recruitment: We actively seek out and engage with prospective students who demonstrate the potential to excel in health professions. Through outreach programs and information sessions, we aim to attract a diverse and talented pool of applicants who are passionate about making a difference in healthcare.

Admissions: The departmental admissions teams are committed to a fair and holistic review process. We strive to identify individuals who not only have strong academic backgrounds but also possess the personal qualities and dedication necessary for a career in health professions. We provide support throughout the application process, ensuring that applicants have the resources they need to succeed.

Retention: Once students are admitted, our focus shifts to their success and well-being. We offer a range of support services, including academic advising, tutoring services, and wellness resources. Our goal is to create an environment where students can thrive academically, professionally, and personally, ensuring they are well-prepared for their future careers.
