Mission

The Department of Nutrition, Metabolism, and Rehabilitation Sciences (NMRS) provides an environment of interdisciplinary research, education and scholarship that is recognized internationally for scientific quality and significance. Our goals are to:

  • Support graduate education and research training programs in rehabilitation sciences, nutrition, and physical activity with a focus on recovery associated with disabilities and chronic disease that limit physical independence.
  • Facilitate faculty development and opportunities for collaborative scholarship in rehabilitation, disability, exercise, and nutrition.
  • Establish support services that encourage research and scholarship examining methods of prevention, intervention, and recovery associated with disabilities and chronic disease that limit a person's ability to engage in meaningful personal, community, recreational, and vocational activities.
