SHP Student Involvement & Organizations

Student Organizations

Joining a SHP student organization is a wonderful way to dedicate your time as a volunteer, help you make new friends who share your interests, expand your network, and prepare you for your career in healthcare where you will be called upon for service.

Promote Your Student Organization Events in the School of Health Professions

We want to help you spread the word about your organization's events! Here are ways you can reach fellow students and the UTMB community:

  1. Bulletin Boards in SHP/SON Building: You can post physical flyers on several of our building bulletin boards. Just stop by the office of Student Affairs 4.226 or 4.230 to get stamped for approval.
  2. Electronic Monitors (TriplePlay) in SHP/SON Building: Send us a flyer, and we’ll display it on the building’s electronic monitors.

The image aspect ratios for monitors should be in one of the following formats:
    • IG Style: Square: 1:1 aspect ratio, with dimensions of 1080px x 1080px
    • PowerPoint: Standard 4:3
    • Image: 4:3 aspect ratio as 640 x 480 pixels
  3. Social Media Channels: Share an event introduction/recap, flyer, and/or video with us, and we’ll post it on our social media pages. We can also cross-share your Facebook posts if you provide the link.

University Wide Student Orgs

There are over 80 student organizations at UTMB. Most are professional and discipline-specific. Others are cultural, religious, and social. Student Organizations participate in and organize hundreds of projects for the campus and the Galveston community each year.

UTMB Student Orgs Resources

In planning and implementing organizational activities, students need information on the use of University facilities, budgeting, outside vendors, and planning strategies. The Office of Student Life is a resource for students and student organizations. It can provide valuable information and save busy students time and energy.

Visit the UTMB Office of Student Life Resources website for an overview of the resources offered to student organizations and the regulations they must follow.

UTMB Student Government Association

Check out the UTMB Student Government Association web page to learn more about how SHP SGA Senate representatives represent you.
