As the first academic health center in Texas and among the oldest in the nation, UTMB has helped define health care for generations.
All four schools in the UTMB Academic Enterprise (School of Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate School Biomedical Sciences) have conferred more than 40,000 degrees throughout their history.
The School of Health Professions was the first school of its kind in the Southwest U.S. when it opened its doors in 1968. SHP celebrates their 50th Anniversary in 2018.
